The western half of the site was redeveloped by McArthurGlen and BAA Lynton as a Retail Designer Outlet Centre in 1996 and extended south in 2002 to take in the whole of the main workshop In 2009, Pod Architects won a design competition and were jointly commissioned by TIAA Henderson Real Estate and McArthurGlen, to redevelop the outlet scheme and extend the operation to include the vacant Grade II Long Shop building.

One of the key features in the successful conservation of a building is that it should be in beneficial use, a use that is sustainable economically, socially and culturally, providing an income stream that is sufficient to maintain the building fabric in a way that responds to current social needs while preserving or enhancing the cultural and heritage value of the building for future generations.
